2nd Annual Connecticut Catholic Men's Conference, October 3, 2009, Chevrolet Theatre, Wallingford, CT. Comparable crowd to the 1st conference with 750 attendees. Break even point is 1,000 participants and, as with last year, the day was outstanding so it's a wonder the place wasn't filled. Billed as "Bring the Fire Home", those in attendance will need to do just that to make next year's event a financial success. Bishop Lori kicked off the day with a brief speech before the main speakers, Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers (EWTN), Fr Larry Richards, Michael Cumbie (Baptist minister who converted to Catholicism), and Fr Sam Kachuba (26 year old priest from Bridgeport Diocese) gave stirring presentations. All of the discussions centered on what it takes to be a real man of faith in today's world. The day concluded with Mass celebrated by Bishop Rosazza. I brought my own sons, ages 29 and 24, and they were thankful for the spiritual commraderie with each other and their dad. I am forever thankful to God that my boys want to share in our Catholic faith. Photos at the end of the gallery are from the 1st men's conference held in Hartford in the fall of 2008. Danny Abramowicz, former all-pro wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, and co-host of Crossing the Goal on EWTN, was the primary speaker. You got to be ready for the day boys!
