Shrine of Saint Anne de Beaupre, St Anne de Beaupre, Canada - basilica and shrine dedicated to the patron saint of Quebec, Saint Anne. The current structure was completed in 1926, however other structures and activity date back to 1658. There are numerous chapels underneath the basilica and several buildings along the grounds worth exploring. The Scala Santa houses the Holy Stairs meant to represent the stairs Jesus had to climb to meet with Pontius Pilate. Pilgrims climb the stairs on their knees offering specific prayers on each step in appreciation of Christ's suffering for our sins. http://www.ssadb.qc.ca/eng/index.htm
