St Agnes of Niantic and St Matthias of East Lyme participated in the 16th annual Niantic Light Parade entering a float of the Christmas Nativity scene. A loyal and hardy decorating crew worked all afternoon to get the flat bed trailer lined with Christmas boughs and lights. Meanwhile the youth group fitted costumes for their roles as the Holy Family, Maji, and shepards. The local chapter of the Knights of Columbus followed behind in a seasonal pick up truck reminding all to "Keep Christ in Christmas". Father Arthur Archer of St Agnes greeted all with an enthusiastic wave and a warm smile. More than 30,000 people were in attendance, and for the first time in the parade's history, more than one church besides St Agnes entered a religious float. This was a welcome sight.
